Midweek Momentum: The Myth of Balance and What Actually Works
Hi friend,
We love the idea of balance—a perfectly planned day where everything fits neatly into place. But let’s be real. Life doesn’t work that way.
Some days feel like a sprint. Others feel like a crawl. One week, you’re locked into deep work mode, grinding out a big project. The next, you’re drained and need to take a step back.
The truth is, balance isn’t about perfectly dividing your time between work, rest, and everything else. It’s about leaning into what matters most at the moment. Some days, you need to go all in. Other days, you need to recharge.
Give yourself permission to adjust. If today is packed, focus on one key priority. If you have space, use it to reflect, reset, or plan ahead.
Balance isn’t a perfect equation. It’s the ability to adapt as life ebbs and flows.
STORIES FROM THE PATH: THE GRIND OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP
Back in college, my days sometimes felt like a marathon with no finish line.
Mornings started with a 30-minute drive to campus. As soon as classes ended, I’d hop in the car for another 45-minute drive to pick up a Gaylord of books from a public library. Sorting through those books took about two hours, and I had to hustle to make it to my taekwondo job, where I worked a seven-hour shift.
But the day didn’t stop there. After work, I’d spend hours scanning books, sorting the profitable ones, and throwing out the duds. Most nights, I didn’t crawl into bed until 2 AM.
It was exhausting, chaotic, and overwhelming at times. But I knew it was worth it. Every long day, every sleepless night, and every effort I poured in was an investment in the dream I was building.
Entrepreneurship isn’t always glamorous. Some days, it’s a grind that tests your limits. But when you’re chasing something meaningful, the sacrifices feel less like burdens and more like steps toward the life you want.
YOUR SHORTCUT TO FOCUS AND ENERGY MANAGEMENT
If you’re constantly battling burnout or feeling like you never have enough time, here’s something to help.
I put together a Focus and Energy Tracker that helps you identify when you work best, when you need to pull back, and how to structure your time for maximum momentum. It’s a simple way to work with your natural rhythms instead of against them.

You don’t need a perfectly balanced life. You need a system that helps you show up when it matters most.
QUICK WIN: ONE THING TO CELEBRATE
Take a moment right now and think of one thing you’ve accomplished recently—big or small. Maybe you finished a tough project, made time for a friend, or simply got through a challenging day.
Now, celebrate it. Give yourself credit for what you’ve done, not just what’s left to do.
Recognizing your wins, no matter how small, shifts your mindset from what’s missing to what’s working. It’s a simple way to boost your motivation and keep your progress in perspective.
Stay focused (or at least pretend to),
Jonathan
