Midweek Momentum: Letting Go to Move Forward
Hi friend,
Ever feel like you’re carrying too much? Not just physically, but mentally—holding onto commitments, clutter, or habits that no longer serve you?
It’s easy to fill our lives with things we think we need, only to realize they’re slowing us down. The extra tasks. The unnecessary obligations. The mental loops that keep playing, even though they stopped being useful a long time ago.
We tell ourselves that holding onto more means we’re in control. But real progress often comes from creating space, not adding weight.
This week, take a step back. What’s one thing you can let go of? Maybe it’s a task that’s no longer essential, an old habit, or even some mental clutter.
Letting go isn’t about losing. It’s about making room for what truly matters.
STORIES FROM THE PATH: THE ONE THAT GOT AWAY
Early in my book-picking days, I stumbled upon a goldmine. A collection of rare Easton Press books. If you’re not familiar, these books often sell for $50 or more each, and at the time, I was thrilled to make a nice profit.
But here’s the kicker. Those same books are worth far more now than what I sold them for. It still stings a little when I think about it, knowing what I know today.
This experience taught me a valuable lesson about patience and perspective. Sometimes, the wins you celebrate in the moment can also serve as reminders to think long-term. While I can’t change the past, I can use the lesson to make better decisions moving forward.
Not every opportunity will pan out perfectly, and that’s okay. What matters is learning and growing from each experience, even the ones that leave you shaking your head later.
YOUR SHORTCUT TO SIMPLIFYING FOR SUCCESS
Most people think success is about doing more. But the real game-changer is knowing what to cut.
I put together a Simple Priorities Guide that helps you identify what’s actually important and what’s just weighing you down. Whether it’s a commitment, a habit, or just mental clutter, this will help you clear the noise and focus on what matters.

Progress isn’t about piling on more. It’s about getting rid of what’s in the way.
QUICK WIN: THE “ONE LESS THING” CHALLENGE
Pick one thing to simplify in your day. Maybe it’s deciding what to wear, planning meals ahead, or streamlining your morning routine.
By reducing even one small decision or task, you free up mental energy for the things that matter most. Try it out today. You might be surprised how much lighter you feel.
Stay focused (or at least pretend to),
Jonathan
